How Pets Improve Life Quality with Chronic Illness

With chronic illness, there is rarely a time without pain or limitations. A person with chronic disease learns quickly to push aside their limitations to do the most mundane tasks in life. Things like household chores, hygiene, and other obligations have to be managed, so they find a way.

That is RESILIANCE, also known as being STUBBORN.

When you have a goal, you find a way to make it happen. What is your goal? What is your purpose?

People can do amazing things when given enough reason.

Very often, it is taking care of someone you love… like a pet. Pets can take a lot of energy from us, but they also give it back. Pets give love, friendship, and a reason to get up in the morning.

Pets can make a very real improvement in your quality of life and add to your quantity of life.

Now, not everyone can own a pet. They may be unable to care for it due to their health. Some apartments may not allow it. Whatever the reason, you can still benefit from a furry friend.

You can foster an animal for a short time as a trial if you are unsure of pet ownership. Contact your local rescue if you are interested in this.

Volunteer with a rescue to walk a dog or work with a cat. Go to the dog park to watch them play.

If a dog or a cat are not your style, then you can get a pet rabbit, guinea pig, or a reptile. These have the benefit of requiring less attention than a typical pet. Some apartments will allow a smaller animal.

To have a purpose is to have happiness, doubly so if you have the love returned by a furry friend.
