Why honesty is crucial in your care

Transparency, or being clear without anything hidden, is the way to communicate with your health team. It’s super important that you are truthful and clear with your provider.

If you are hiding facts, they can’t treat you in the best way.

It’s common for people to hide things they are embarrassed about. It could be anything from not taking medications for budget reasons to having bathroom accidents from lack of control.

It’s understandable to not want to talk about these things. People are afraid of judgement. Fortunately, your health team is there to help you solve it.

Be honest and frank. Your doctor has seen these issues before and needs your trust to help you fix it.

If your doctor gives you directions you can’t follow, let them know! Sometimes a treatment is expensive, or you are overwhelmed, an alternative is needed. Work with your team to customize your care to your specific needs.
